SEMS is blessed by the use of a beautiful facility that is nestled in the Shenandoah mountains in the city of Amissville, Virginia. The farm is 25 acres with 5 of those acres being in woods. Their are 3 barns that consist of 15 stalls. The main barn (pictured to the left) has 8 stalls that are 14X14. The barn is climate controlled and has air flow coming from all 4 sides. The stallion barn has 5 stalls that look out into the mountains for a relaxing view that the stallions enjoy on a daily basis. The turn out barn has 2 stalls. This barn was originally a broodmare barn with access to 1 acres turn out fields at free choice. The stallion barn (pictured to the right) is also where we condition horses. The back side of the barn is where the stalls are, looking out into the mountains. Then inside is where we have groom rooms, the hot walker, and the treadmill. To the right of this barn is a 60x60 covered round pen.
There are 9 turn out fields on the farm that allows us to rotate horses every day for turn out. These fields are surrounded by Centaur fencing that keeps maintenance to a minimum and safety to a maximum. Each field has a different use: some of the fields have different digrees of slopes that allows for enjoyment and a great workout, while others are flat that are helpful with horses who are not able to work on hills.
Fence to fence with the farm is the reproduction facility, Equine Reproduction Concepts. This allows us to have full use of the best doctors and equipment we could need when it comes to breeding the stallions that are here. Equine Reproduction Concepts deals with everything from breeding, embryo transfer, stallion collection, frozen semen, to phantom training. Having them next to us allows us to take the stallions off the farm to collect so that they can keep their thoughts on training when they are here, and they don't have to go far to have this done. |
